Navigating Stress, Health Battles, and the Weight of Responsibility

Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges at us, and for many of us, stress has become a constant companion. They say stress is one of the biggest contributors to illness, and that’s not hard to believe. As some of you know, I’m currently facing my own battle with breast cancer. It’s not easy, but I’m determined to get through it. At the same time, I’m juggling my roles as a mom, wife, sister, daughter, and small business owner, trying to hold everything together. And yet, with so much going on, it feels like things have fallen through the cracks. SOLOLI, the business I built with so much love and hard work, has been one of those things that I need to lift up again—not only because I’m passionate about it, but let’s be real, my family and everyone who relies on SOLOLI also needs it to succeed.

Just this past weekend, I faced a new challenge: a kidney stone. I had never experienced anything like it. The pain was beyond words—like giving birth and the worst period cramps combined. I ended up needing a stent to help me, and honestly, it was a horrible weekend. Now, on top of everything, I have surgery coming up to remove some tumors in my breast. But the medication I had to go through last night (and need to keep taking) has added a delay to my treatment plan, which brings, yes, even more stress.

So here I am, with a heart full of hope and yet feeling the weight of all these battles. And I know I’m not alone. So many of us are dealing with similar stress in different forms, each person facing their unique battles. How do we get through it? How do we hold on to hope and health when life keeps testing us?

Here are some of the insights I’ve gathered that help me cope. And please, if you have more suggestions, send them my way. Let’s remind each other that we’re not alone—we’re in this battle together.

1. The Power of Pause

Sometimes, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to pause. Whether it’s a minute to close your eyes and breathe deeply or an afternoon where you step away from everything, finding moments to disconnect from the stress can offer clarity and strength. A pause isn’t giving up; it’s gathering the strength to keep going.

2. Prioritizing Self-Care

We’re used to putting everyone else’s needs first, but true self-care is about recognizing that taking care of ourselves is essential. For me, that means honoring my body’s limits, which right now means listening to my doctors, resting when I need to, and focusing on healing. Self-care is the fuel that allows us to be there for others. It’s not selfish—it’s essential.

3. Support Systems Matter

My family, friends, and SOLOLI community have been pillars of strength. Leaning on them, whether it’s for a conversation, a hug, or even sharing a laugh, has reminded me that I don’t have to carry this alone. Surrounding ourselves with people who lift us up can make a world of difference.

4. Finding Purpose in the Pain

Running SOLOLI is a huge part of my life, and despite everything, I’m committed to lifting it up again. My love for this business and the joy it brings to others keep me going. When we channel our energy into something meaningful, it gives us strength we didn’t know we had.

5. Laughter and Small Joys

Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but finding humor, even in tough times, can be healing. Watching a funny movie, sharing silly moments with my kids, or just taking a break to enjoy a cup of tea can lighten the burden. Small joys are reminders of life’s beauty, even when things are hard.

6. Faith and Spirituality

Whether it’s prayer, meditation, or just moments of quiet reflection, having faith that we’re not alone on this journey brings peace. Turning to a higher power or to a source of strength within ourselves can guide us through the darkest moments.

We all have different ways of coping, and some days are harder than others. The truth is, we’re stronger than we often give ourselves credit for. Remember, every step forward, no matter how small, is progress. And know that I’m here, facing my own battles but also here for you. Let’s lift each other up, share what helps us, and remind ourselves that we’re never alone in this journey.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Together, we’ll find strength, healing, and hope. If you have tips, ideas, or just need a listening ear, reach out. We’re in this together, and together, we’ll find a way forward.
